Education & Training

Total Force Training

The Buckley SFB Education & Training section centrally manages administration of all education and training matters at Buckley.

Education & Training supports the long-range Air Force goals for maintaining a high quality force and enhancing professional and personal development, recruitment, retention, and readiness. The center, located on E. A-Basin Ave in Bldg. 606, offers some of the most advanced methods of training available. Students not only participate in traditional classroom instruction, but may also take advantage of live satellite-delivered interactive video instruction.

The co-located Base Training Office assists unit personnel in training for mission related functions. It also manages the Career Development Course Program and conducts staff assistance visits. A Learning Resource Room is located in the office, with CLEP/DSST study guides and the Chiefs Reading list available for a two-week checkout. The Buckley SFB Education & Training Section is accessible to all military, veterans, civilians and spouses.

CCAF Student Information System (SIS) Modernization

1. Air University is pressing forward with our critical need to deliver the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) a modernized student information system (SIS). The transition from our legacy system is a major undertaking involving a labor-intensive data migration period which we anticipate will continue for the next 3 to 6 months. The effort aims to provide both students and instructors an improved user experience in a more secure operating environment. While most of Air University has already migrated, the size, scope, and complexity of CCAF’s existing database presents unique challenges which will take both persistence and patience to overcome.

2. During the next several months, CCAF’s ability to respond to a range of requests will be constrained. CCAF will be unable to update student records, enrollments, or provide updated transcripts showing qualifying credit for courses after September 28, 2022. Transcripts can still be requested through the current process, but they will only be current through the cutoff. Air University also will not be able to confer CCAF degrees or update enlisted MilPDS records while the system transitions. Airmen and Guardians can still participate in the Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (AFCOOL) program or request and complete certificates, such as CCAF Instructor.

3. In preparation for this transition, we are fully engaged with your installation education service offices to assist students with navigating the upcoming challenges. We will provide a FAQ page at https://www.airuniversity.af.edu/barnes/ccaf/faq
and have established a hotline to address the highest priority issues in the field at (334) 649-5000 / DSN 749 available M-F, 0730-1630 CST.

4. We are asking our leaders at every level to be patient as we undertake the most significant overhaul of the CCAF SIS in the school’s history. We are working hard to clearly communicate during the transition and to ensure installation education offices are armed with the information needed to serve as our “field offices” as we deliver the SIS your Airmen and Guardians deserve.

Our local Education Office has developed the following
FAQ to provide guidance through this operational pause.

eLibrary Services

While Buckley Space Force Base doesn’t have a dedicated, brick-and-mortar library, there are many great resources available to the Buckley Community.

One of these resources is the USAF eLibrary Online Resources.  These resources are available as a service to Active Duty, DoD Civilian, retirees, and dependents to access secure resources.  This is a massive online repository of resources to include but not limited to audio books, ebooks, videos, movies, cultural awareness literature, language learning, news, reference, educational resources, film and music.  All of this is FREE to access.

Click on the following attachment for more information on how to access this fantastic resource.

Another of the resources available to our Buckley Community is the Aurora Public Libraries’ “Books on Wheels” program.  This program visits the Buckley Installation Housing area every three weeks.  For the next available visit, please keep an eye out for the Buckley Bulletin and other marketing sent out by the FSS Team.  The Aurora Public Library is within 5 miles of the installation and has a lot of great programming available for anyone interested.  For more information on available Aurora Public Library programming, please visit them at https://www.auroragov.org/things_to_do/aurora_public_library
